The head of the company, Craig Jones, noticed that his mother was using a white paste intended for use on cows to treat her psoriasis. Although it was effective, the cream was thick and difficult to apply. Craig reformulated the product to make it lighter and less greasy. The name "MooGoo" was used as a reference to the cream's original use for cow udders, but in a more approachable way.

Over time, MooGoo has expanded its product line to include over 40 items for various skin and scalp problems, including natural sun care products, a baby range, and a natural dental range. The company's ingredient philosophy remains focused on using healthy ingredients in effective products that are safe for use by the company's employees and loved ones. Craig remains actively involved in the business, with a focus on product development and formulation.
